What works when the iPhone is locked?
Short answer: in this web version, nothing runs while the screen is locked or Safari is in the background. iOS suspends web pages: GPS updates stop, timers stop, and speech stops. When you come back, the app tells you how long it was paused and picks up where you are.
So while driving: keep this screen open in a mount. The app asks iOS to keep the screen awake (Screen Wake Lock). If the pill says “may lock”, set Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never for the trip. Plugging in the charger helps too.
Locked-screen narration needs a native iOS app (background location + background audio). The README in the project explains exactly what that build needs.
Stories come from Wikipedia articles near you (linked under each story). The guide never asks you to look at the screen, turn, or stop. If you hear nothing, check the volume (Media, not Ringer) and the silent switch.
